  • relocation within Australia and overseas;
  • urgent parenting proceedings;

  • property settlement and division of assets;
  • high-net-worth financial matters;

  • spousal maintenance;
  • binding financial agreements;
  • international and cross-border disputes; and
  • negotiation, mediation and litigation.

She regularly appears in the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia and has acted for clients with connections across the United Kingdom, United States, Europe, the Middle East and Asia.

Complex Parenting, Relocation and Risk Matters

Parenting disputes can affect a child’s relationships, stability, education and sense of safety long after a legal matter has concluded. Gabriella’s approach is child-centred but strategically rigorous, recognising that workable parenting arrangements must respond to the evidence, the family’s circumstances and any identified risks.

She advises on parenting orders, relocation applications, urgent proceedings, family reports, independent children’s lawyers, recovery applications, allegations of family violence and high-conflict disputes.

Gabriella’s work as an author and co-parenting educator also informs her understanding of the communication and behavioural patterns that can cause parenting arrangements to succeed or fail in practice.

High-Net-Worth Property Settlements

Gabriella advises on financial matters involving substantial or complex asset pools, including property portfolios, companies, trusts, business interests, inheritances, superannuation and international assets.

Her approach is both legally and commercially focused. She assists clients to identify the asset pool, obtain appropriate financial disclosure, determine where expert valuation or forensic evidence is required and develop a strategy for negotiation, mediation or litigation.

Complex property matters require careful attention not only to value, but also to control, liquidity, taxation considerations, third-party interests and the practical implementation of any proposed settlement.

From the Family Court to Family Law Practice

Gabriella began her legal career in a leading Sydney family law team before working as Associate to the Honourable Justice Watts of the Family Court of Australia.

Her experience within the Court gave her valuable insight into the preparation of evidence, the determination of complex parenting and financial disputes and the importance of presenting a case clearly and persuasively.

Gabriella was admitted to the Supreme Court of New South Wales and the High Court of Australia. She holds degrees in Arts and Law from the University of New South Wales and has undertaken international legal study in Beijing and at Columbia University in New York.

She was appointed Partner – Family Law at Norton Law Group in 2020.

Strategic, Solutions-Focused Family Law Advice

Gabriella is trained in Collaborative Law and is a member of the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals.

She works with clients to determine whether their matter is best suited to negotiation, collaborative law, mediation or court proceedings. Her focus is not on conflict for its own sake, but on developing a clear strategy that protects the client’s legal position and creates the strongest available pathway toward resolution.

When litigation is required, Gabriella provides determined and carefully prepared representation. When a matter can be resolved outside court, she works to achieve clear, sustainable and properly documented arrangements.
